A beautiful family

I have had three sessions with this wonderful family since August.  One turned into a mini session because of the rain, the next was a dance session because they were unhappy with ones from the dance studio.  This last one was so last minute.  The oldest daughter is grown so is not always around.  I received a call on Thanksgiving saying she's here... you have to come.  So the next morning I was there.  I had a blast photographing them.  This collage will replace the one over the fireplace that we did when the 8 year old was just 1 and the little guy was only a twinkle.

A crazy session

This session was crazy. Mama B called and said it is raining in Gaithersburg. In all my wisdom, I replied, "Oh, don't worry, it's not raining in Rockville, let's still do it!" So we got to the lovely mansion and photographed on their beautiful grounds for about 7 minutes before the torrential downpour started. Mama B and I where huddled under a dense tree in a small 3 foot patch of dry while the kids ran around and got soaked and splashed in puddles. They had a blast! I got my camera out again after the rain stopped and took some fun images that really embody these children. Thankfully, Mama was a good sport and saw the humor in the situation! What a fun time!

My horsey friends

This is a picture I took with my junkie point and shoot. The sky was awesome looking as a storm was blowing in. I ran to the car for my camera and took a few shots but nothing came out as I had envisioned because all I had was my little camera that I keep in my purse. But I still liked this one because of the angle and the way you see one horse in the background under the first. Skip, in the back, is actually a lot bigger than Tiger Lily (a pony), in the front. This shows some of the post production that can be done to make a snapshot into something interesting.

Restoration

I just did a restoration project for a client. I am thrilled to see that professional images are valued by family for generations. The snap shots they had were a total loss but with the quality materials of these pro images, they were just a bit cracked and yellow but salvageable.

Down by the stream

I went on a Boy Scouts hike with my two little ones last fall. During the 4 hours of hiking with a 7 year old and a 4 year old, I found a great place for portraits. It took two more visits to pinpoint an easier way to that spot. When I did, the place that I was dreaming about was two feet under water. We had so much snow and rain this winter. I got some great shots of my little model anyway and I'm sure the water will go down as the green comes out. Soooo looking forward to spring!!
